YTO Solreiser started as a project group in 2004 with drummer Karl-Magnus Bjorøy and guitarist Thomas Wang to create something new and to bring improvisation and jazz elements into their strong foothold in deathmetal. They recorded a 3 track promo in a huge old warehouse to get the real big sound they wanted. The title track “Little Wicked” was “track of the week” on the national radio channel NRK P3. Slowly the band started to gain (and steal) new members from different parts of the music scene in Norway to form what would become YTO Solreiser. Singer Oliver Madsen; a young disturbed mix of Mike Patton and Layne Staley, Robin Sohrabi-Shiraz; one of Oslo’s most popular and intuitive soprano/tenor saxophone players, and Arne K. Mathisen; percussionist from norwegian super-rock-trio Heroes&Zeros.
The YTO-Crew is an experienced bunch of musicians who deliver explosive and tight live shows with both experimental and mainstream appeal. The spacey track ”Stev” is based on a 400 year old folk melody from ”Gudbrandsdalen”. (Valley in the mountains of mid Norway)
The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Thomas Wang, the guitarist in the band, in one of Oslo’s classic studios (Urban Sound/Waterfall) were among others Satyricon and Madrugada have recorded major albums.
Released internationally April 1st 2010, this monolithic but diverse production has been inspired by good people, a lust for life and an undying love for all good music.
